Uçhisar, Cappadocia region, Turkey

We’ve been staying for a few days in Uçhisar, in the Cappadocia region of central Turkey.  The area is famous for its unusual rock formations (e.g., fairy chimneys) and rock houses and churches. There are also a number of underground cities, used by ancient Christians to hide from unfriendly Romans.  The weather hasn’t been ideal for exploring, it has rained on and off and there have been low clouds or fog that prevented us from going up in a hot air balloon, as planned.  However, we’ve seen some interesting sights:
