Yesterday, we visited the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. These are the standard tourist fare in Istanbul and we had mixed feelings at seeing more religious buildings, but we set out for the 45 minute trek from our lodgings near Galata Tower in the Beyoglu district, across the Galata Bridge and into the Sultanmeht district. However, the interiors of both the Sophia (once a church, then a mosque, now a museum) and the Mosque were quite beautiful and we feel the trip was worthwhile. Each of us had a camera and I’ve got more digital images than I know what to do with. Here’s a sampling (one from each of us – oldest to youngest photographer).
