To celebrate Kevin turning a half century, we escaped from our ‘get-away’ and had a lovely time away at hotel lone.
I’m surprised Aidan hasn’t posted something about the hotel he considers the coolest he’s ever been to, but he has been busy drawing and designing his own resort.
The hotel is on the edge of Rovinj, a darling old ‘Italianesque’ town not even a whole half hour away from the farmhouse that is our home of the moment. It was fun to have sometime to just celebrate Kevin.
We enjoyed a really scrumptious dinner while the kids ate pizza and watched tv in their room, which was adjacent to ours, but the adjoining door remained lock for our entire stay! Kevin missed his mom’s traditional birthday cheesecake. He did have one candle in a piece of cheesecake, a ricotta cheesecake with raisins, not the same as mom’s. I enjoyed a fig tart served with burnt butter ice cream, a most brilliant culinary combination. Anyway, the boys had lots of fun in the coolest swimming pool I have ever seen. The male Patricks in particular loved the breakfast buffet. The first pancakes, waffles, and maple syrup the boys have had since Reykjavik, Iceland – it’s been rough!
We enjoyed riding bikes around the gorgeous Zlatni rt – Punta Corrente Forest Park…unlike our last attempt to ride bikes together in Vsrar. That memorable, not in a good way, afternoon resulted in us all crashing in to each other, not in a psychical way, the worst possible way. It was not our finest family moment, and we have had our share of less than pretty moments where we all have been less than our best. I know, hard to imagine!
